My Real Self

Who am I? I'm getting confused myself. I have these peculiar memories of being a powerful being or person, but it doesn't happen to be at any point in time within the next two centuries. Visions of a grand war come to mind. I also see visions of this place - some huge structure, full of busy people walking around. It seems strange and foreign - everybody appears to be in some form of formal wear although nobody seems to dress the same. Even I am walking around in this place with this supposed formal wear.

I seem to remember walking into this room full of people from a side door. They are arranged like a cinema place (in steps), but each person seems to have their own cubicle. I go to my 'cubicle' and retrieve what appears to be some kind of laptop. Then, I walk out.

I recall watching world events, occasionally even stuff that hasn't happened yet. This premonitions some time give me a feeling of deja vu. I see plenty of odd events - stuff you usually don't notice. A certain person walking a certain way. A certain conversation being repeated exactly - and I change it because I know how it is going to go.

I also seem to have some random capability to see and alter future events. I can tell exactly when a traffic light is going to go green, when the next bus is going to arrive, what cards are in whose hands when playing cards, how exactly the future will occur in some isolated cases where I allow it to occur exactly.

Oddly enough, I happen to recall having to deal with death and the dead. Talk about randomness.

(This is a continuation of 2005's bullshit post on the 1st of April. I don't like playing pranks, and I'm not one who can think of a good prank that would be pretty funny. Maybe one fine day you'll see a nice Sword Fantasy post on the 1st of April, and maybe even the Warcraft III map I'm working on. Work on that has stopped altogether, by the way. Sorry that I actually forgot what prank I wanted to do last year for this year. :P)

Chapter 2 - 07: It's Them

"So the threat of an attack was from them," said Erse. "However, we can't confirm any of the ships specifications. It's not from any known ship in our database."

"Considering we haven't seen them for 10 years, that's not surprising. If they were still using the same old attack ships, they'd be doomed to fail."

"So what shall we do?"

"Send the footage to the Arltian Alliance."

"They've never heeded our warning before. What makes you think they'll listen now?"

"They won't. They still think we're fooling around and faking a third enemy so we can attack them. We don't have the power to monitor their borders for them. We have enough trouble getting enough men to run all our ships."

"Even we are understaffed as it is. If they were to attack us now..."

"We'd lose because we'd only man half of the ship. The Arltian Alliance refuses to allow us to hire their people from the bordering planets. We may have the money, but it doesn't mean anything if we don't have enough men to use that money. I've got to go now. Time to report this to the rest of the fleet."

The story is being rewritten yet again at this point. Expect it to happen until kingdom come. I decided that this way of writing is awful - and it's most certainly headed in the wrong direction. I think that I've put in the sideplots too many too early, and I'm confusing readers more than I am attracting their interest to read more. Of course, arguably - this whole story is actually a sideplot to a much larger one.

Kanya might be looking at a rename, although Erse and Pandora will probably stick. Doesn't take a genius to figure out who the main characters are in the story now does it? :D

I think my methods of furthering the story are wrong. I think I've been trying too hard to further the story by summary, instead of writing in detail what I should be writing about. Expect the first chapter in a rewritten PDF form some time in the future.

Item No.1 on Table - Sellotape

sellotape.jpg How many people use sellotape? I personally use sellotape for holding up phone cables, Ethernet cables, sealing up boxes, cleaning up assignments, binding assignments, cleaning up glue, killing ants, repairing small gadgets, sealing leaks, as a paper weight, to eat up space on the table, storing my printer, waterproof certain items, make toys, tidy up cables, repair cables, clean up my keyboard and so on.

The Twisted Economy

I happen to have this bad habit of sitting through lectures for subjects I don't take, won't take, and don't care too much about. A good example of this would be third-year microeconomics at Melbourne Uni. The lecturer's name is in the photo. 316313microfunny.jpg

She gave this fun example called the Robinson Crusoe economy. Since I would think that the material should not be shared so happily, and I will take it down if told to do so, this is a funny way of looking at a one-man economy.

Simply said, it is an example of a one-man economy. How is it a funny, yet twisted example? This man is a producer, so he sets up a firm and hires labour to collect food, then sell it to the consumer. This man is also the consumer - so he is the labour of this firm and he buys food from the firm. So, now we have a man who sets up a firm to collect food, for which he does, and then he sells this food to himself with the money he was paid for the work (which could be food too). This man also happens to be a sole shareholder of the firm which produces food, so he also receives dividends off the profit of the firm. So now, we have a man collecting food for a firm who sells him food which he buys using his wage and his dividends which are from the profits of the firm who sells him food at a profit.

The easy way to look at it? This man looks for food. He eats the food when he needs the food. He will keep any extra food he has for later consumption.

So now, anyone for being an economist?

Edit: I've finally removed two links. Yam's Blog with Cogs has been taken down by Yam quite a while ago. I hoped he would bring it back up, which he didn't. The Speaker's Corner has been made private only by ayjk, the writer, and since I am not very interested in reading his blog, even I myself have not asked for access and I believe it isn't fair for me to link to something that most people can't read. Jien Han hasn't been updating his blog much either - so I'd say that if you want something to read, keep visiting my blog, chewxy's blog, u238's blog and kennysia's blog. (And yes, the links you see on the blog are the only blogs I visit regularly.)
