Thinking of a Cool Old Script

If you remember, I wrote a script once I called Paradox for a short movie anthology that Chewxy was going to direct and film. The script is now in Malaysia on some backup disc somewhere, never used, and never reprinted. The script itself has only been read by 6 people, and most people don't remember what it was. What was the script about? Time travel. What was idea was it pushing? The grandfather paradox. The format? It was similar in format to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, in a manner of speaking. The script involved the telling of one contiguous story through several different perspectives and storytelling, detailing several massive errors by a few people that wanted to test the paradox. I'm quite sure it ain't original, but the script was pretty fun to write, and hopefully it'll be fun to film later on.

I'm planning on writing on a new one as sort of a continuation of the story in that script, but with quite the difference.

Dead XBox

Original Short Rant:

The XBox that I turned into a server somehow now refuses to boot. Thankfully all the data on the hard drive in it is completely fine. I will be spending the next several days recovering the data.

New Blog Rant: Well, my XBox did die. Thankfully, luijin had left one of his few computers here with me, so I turned one of them into a good solid Ubuntu based server. I've become quite the Ubuntu fan, using it on my PS3 and my 'new' server. I suppose I'm highly satisfied with the fact that the distribution is extremely easy to install, even for a non-Linux geek like me.

I got my new server set up in about an hour, going for nothing to complete LAMP + SAMBA server installation on an aging computer. Of course, the fact that I had plenty of headless Debian experience from my earlier XBox was probably a great help, but Ubuntu is an excellent distribution - it's easy to install while being rather full-featured for the desktop, and the server disk makes it extremely easy to set up a headless server with practically nothing but the bare minimum needed to function.

(Yes, it's the same hard drive, just that now the server has many times the power, although it's probably consuming twice the normal amount of power. Oh well, didn't have much of a choice, it was between that or another XBox.)

Update: Updated the blog to Wordpress 2.2.3. Report bugs if found.

Welcome to A New Theme!

Heh. After some rethinking, I decided I should add a short rants feature to my blog. Then, I decided I should revamp my Archives list in the sidebar into a more usable (and practical) archives page. So, together with my want to change my blog theme, want for a sideblog, and archives page revamp, I decided it was time to spend some time at night implementing them.

The theme is called Sodelicious Black, I'm using KG's Archives and Sideblog plugins to power the Sideblog in the sidebar, and the new Archives page.

Why a sideblog? I decided I wasn't one for long rants about nothing, so I decided I should have a place I can write down those small little things I want to say, but would just be a dumb waste of space if I made it into an entire post.

I realise I haven't been posting many photos or pictures lately, so I suppose it might be a good time to make several well-thought-out posts over a longer period of time compared to a shorter one.

On a side note, I have actually quit Magic (yet again, I know), but this time not out of lack of interest or lack of players, but more like a lack of funds to generally throw at pieces of cardboard that most people aren't interested in. It was a planned withdrawal, since I had only bought small amounts of Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, and practically no Future Sight. However, I do intend to resume writing articles about my favourite card game soon, so expect some articles to come from there.

I realise I haven't been posting much about my personal life, but to be honest, there isn't much happening in my life right now. I'm a plain old boring student, and while I've just joined a killer student association recently (which I shall decline to reveal until my first piece of work is done), I have little or nothing to say. Of course, that could actually mean what I find ordinary - is actually not that normal.

Strange Computer Habits I Just Noticed in 2007

I have some computer habits I just realised I do a lot. 1. Windows key + M is my best friend in Windows. I don't know why, but having everything minimized is a godsend. 2. Since I usually use a Mac, my F11 key on my PowerBook is my best friend. I have it assigned to Expose All Windows. The productivity increase yielded by something so simple is alarmingly high! 3. I have a tendency to use only the Right Shift key while typing. The Left Shift key ends up being reserved exclusively for hotkey combinations! 4. I love my backlit keyboard. 5. At first glance, my Mac keyboard doesn't appear to be capable of controlling my iTunes. Think again! 6. I have a USB extension cable always nearby my computer. Any guesses as to why? (Yes, I need a USB even more convenient than just the side of my computer! 7. I never use the Back/Forward buttons on my mouse for going back and forth. :D 8. I don't blog as often anymore. @_@

Been Sick for Three Days

I've been sick for the past three days, including today, which sucks. I hate being sick. I rarely get sick enough to be sick, so I suppose being sick is somewhat a change of pace. Funny thing is, I feel more normal compared to the floating feeling I've been having over the past month. It feels like I have my body back. :P I have this post scheduled, but I'd say chances are I would've gone to see a doctor or something tomorrow morning, and all should be well. I hope.

As for my assignments, I think it'll be easily completed despite my sickness.

I rarely check my site e-mail address. Guess what? A whopping 4350 new e-mail messages sent to cfgt.net, gobbling up a massive 33MB of my already small website quota. WTF?!
